Heart Healthy Cookout Ideas

Thinking about cookouts can conjure visions of hot dogs, potato salad, deviled eggs, and chips… all of which can be high in fat, cholesterol, and sodium.

Updating your summer cookouts to include fruits, veggies, and lean proteins is easy and delicious.  Check out our latest infographic for some heart healthy cookout ideas.

Here are some combos that we like:

  • Salmon, asparagus, dill, roasted garlic, a few capers, black pepper, and sliced lemon.
  • Shrimp, sweet onions, red and green bell peppers, corn, cumin, red chili flakes, fresh garlic, and lime juice
  • Sliced chicken breast, zucchini, yellow crookneck squash, cherry tomatoes, garlic, basil, and white wine.

Now, go get grillin’!

  1. Love it! You can also reduce the risk of carcinogens by cooking at lower temperatures and marinating your meat for at least 10 minutes before grilling.
